Digital Industries (DI) at Siemens Korea (Siemens Ltd. Seoul·SLS) announced that the awards ceremony for the ‘11th Siemens Digital CNC Competition’ was successfully held on July 25 at the Digital Experience and Application Center in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.

This year’s Siemens Digital CNC Competition was conducted online on a virtual platform on July 16, evaluating competitors’ programming skills in determining how machine tools process materials using Siemens’ digital twin-based CNC machining program, SINUTRAIN. With multiple choice exams and creative drawings, it was a good opportunity for students to enhance their abilities in computer-aided milling and turning, as well as deepening their understanding of machine tools and Siemens-related concepts and terminology.

Among more than 500 participants, 20 winners were awarded during the ceremony. Siemens honored the most outstanding participants with prestigious awards including the Minister of Employment and Labor Award, the Korea Committee for International Skills Olympics President’s Award, the Siemens Digital Industries Excellence Award, and other additional prizes. The top honor, the Minister of Employment and Labor Award was awarded to ChungGi Hong from Changwon Polytechnic and YuJun Cheon from Samcheonpo Industrial High School, while the Korea Committee for International Skills Olympics President’s Award went to GeyongJun Lee from Changwon Polytechnic and JiSeong An from Samcheonpo Industrial High School.

JiWan Kim, Head of Motion Control Machine Tool Systems of Digital Industries at Siemens Korea, said, “This competition has allowed us to engage with young talents, expand the pool of engineers proficient in using SINUMERIK, and enhance their technical skills, while setting new directions for industrial education in Korea. We are deeply grateful to the students who showed great interest and actively participated in the 11th Siemens Digital CNC Competition.”

For more than a decade since 2014, the Siemens Digital CNC Competition has become the leading event in domestic digital industry education that identifies and supports students who are poised to be key players in future technologies. Going forward, Siemens Korea Digital Industries plans to offer more opportunities to future digital talents through the Digital CNC Competition.
