Food and sanitation kits worth KRW 10 million will be delivered to low-income seniors through the Seoul Senior Citizens Welfare Center
Siemens Korea’s ‘The NANUM’ volunteer corps will support low-income seniors in need due to the prolonged COVID-19 crisis by providing Home Meal Replacements and personal sanitation products worth KRW 10 million
Siemens Korea (Siemens Ltd. Seoul·SLS), a global powerhouse in electrical engineering and electronics, announced on September 29 that the company will carry out a citizenship program in recognition of the Senior Citizens Day.
Siemens Korea will support low-income seniors who are facing difficulties in daily living conditions due to the prolonged COVID-19 crisis by providing home meal replacements and personal sanitation products worth KRW 10 million. The kits consist of precooked five-grain rice, Korean beef Galbitang, high-calcium soybean milk as well as hand sanitizers, KF-94 face masks, and sterilized wet tissues. Through the Seoul Senior Citizens Welfare Center, the kits will be delivered to around 430 senior citizens eligible for free meals on September 29th and October 1st. A joint contribution to support this activity was made among Siemens Ltd. Seoul, Siemens Healthineers, and Siemens Energy.
Since the launch of the company’s ‘The NANUM’ volunteer corps in 2013, Siemens Korea has conducted various volunteer activities every year, including delivering charcoal briquettes, cleaning up the local environment, and serving free meals at the Seoul Senior Citizens Welfare Center. This year, instead of the on-site free meal-serving activity that was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, the company decided to continue the support towards the local community by carrying out the delivery of food and sanitation products for the elderly in a non-contact manner.
Mr. ChewKong Lum, President and CEO of Siemens Korea, said, “The safety of our employees and the local community should always come first during the pandemic, and therefore this year we have conducted all citizenship activities in a completely non-contact format.” He added, “As a responsible company growing together with the local community, Siemens Korea will continue to fulfill its social responsibilities, and I hope the pandemic ends soon so that we are able to resume our face-to-face volunteer activities with our senior neighbors.”
