Herbalife Nutrition Korea signs sponsorship MOU with Korean Nutrition Society
Premier global nutrition company Herbalife Nutrition Korea announced on May 3, the signing of an MOU with the Korean Nutrition Society (KNS), to support sustainable development of nutrition science in Korea.
The signing ceremony, which was held on April 30 during the 2021 Spring Symposium on “Food and Nutrition in the Pandemic Era” co-organized by the Korean Nutrition Society and the Korean Society for Food Science and Nutrition' at Yangjae-dong’s aT Center, was participated by Herbalife Nutrition Korea’s General Manager Sean Seung-wook Chung and KNS’ President Myoung-sook Lee (Professor at Sungshin Women’s University). In accordance with this partnership, Herbalife Nutrition Korea will sponsor the ‘Herbalife Nutrition Young Scientist Award’ for the next five years to contribute to the fostering of promising scholars through this continuous support. Founded in 1967, the Korean Nutrition Society is one of the leading academic bodies in the nation pertaining to nutrition. The society carries out various academic research and exchange programs for the advancement of nutrition and enhancement of public health, including the establishment and revision of nutrient intake standards and dietary guidelines for Koreans.
Launched last year at the ‘2020 The Korean Nutrition Society International Conference’, the first ‘Herbalife Nutrition Young Scientist Award’ went to Sun-hye Lee, Assistant Professor of Food Science at Sun Moon University, who was chosen as the best presenter during the Young Scientist Presentation session. In order to award talented researchers and discover promising global leaders in the field through the annual symposium following Professor Lee, the society strengthened its organizational structure by establishing the “Young Scientist Special Committee”.
In addition to this MOU, Herbalife Nutrition Korea’s Head of Government Affairs, Sandy Seoyoung Lee, has been appointed as one of the industry sector Vice Presidents of the 2021 Korean Nutrition Society’s board of directors. Lee will support KNS’ growth moving forward and strengthen academia and private industry partnerships with her expertise and nutritional knowledge.
Furthermore, Herbalife Nutrition has been actively engaging in global joint projects and research exchange programs with nutrition societies around the world such as the American Society for Nutrition and Nutrition Society of Malaysia through their headquarters in the U.S. and branch office in Malaysia, respectively.
